1- Work from home

You are more efficient and less stressed and you no longer need to move with public transport and face the traffic jam, now you can enjoy your moment with your family while doing your tasks safely from home.

2- Save money

With the lockdown we can no longer have the opportunity to go out and eat outside or doing shopping, because all activities are suspended, even our groceries are prepared in advance which helps us save some money.

3- Spend quality time with the family

Before lockdown we surely spent more time outside than with family (shame on us!) doing shopping or having “important” meetings.  Actually with lockdown we have to stay at home and enjoy time with our family and do a lot of activities together.

4- No more hypocrisy!

Let’s see the bright side of things, the Coronavirus has forced us to no longer kiss or touch someone to avoid the virus, so we can say goodbye – at least for now – at these times of embarrassment where you have to greet and sympathize with  people you don’t like, best excuse in the world and especially effective! “Sorry! Coronavirus”.

5- The environment thanks us

With limited travel, canceled trips and suspended activities, the earth has FINALLY been able to rest – hallelujah! – and even rare resources are no longer as threatened as before and no one can deny that Covid- 19 was able to help the environment.

6- Learn and do new things

You have certainly much time to spend, so you have to take advantage of it and learn as many things as possible: Playing the piano or the drums (without annoying your neighbors), learning new languages, registering for new courses, reading lots of books, start a career on Youtube … etc

7- Develop E-learning skills

Before lockdown everyone – or almost – would have asked the question: What is e-learning? Now everyone knows about it and all countries have been able to develop and use it easily to allow students to learn and acquire new skills safely.

There are certainly other advantages to this pandemic but let’s not forget that the virus is still there and it is necessary to be careful and avoid unnecessary meetings; we must wear your masks which has its own advantages too! To be mentioned in the coming article.

Between a health and economic crisis, the world is living a real ordeal passing through the commercial sector which endures a significant drop in trade (import and export) with 13% currently and 32% for the coming months. After the crisis experienced in 2008, the world economy opened its doors to each other to revive a perfect globalization, the covid-19 comes in this case to change things once again. This latter did not neglect the financial market with the creation of a financial storm causing the value of the shares to fall. How can this fall be explained? Firstly, as being a major or very influential element, the decline is explained by uncertainty, the markets abhor uncertainty, this doubt is simply the consequence of this pandemic; can the world predict the end of this pandemic? No response can be predicted.

Second major problem is related to the non-stability of the interest rate, a means on which the banks were relying to revive the financial sector is in sharp decline, which no longer allows the authorities to revive the economy, this is similar to entering to another world war signaling the protectionism animated by the United States that proves once again its egoism vis-à-vis other countries and more precisely China, its major competitor which is at the origin of the pandemic but also the Latin American and even its allies the European countries.

The logistics sector could not escape this crisis, and it is going through its most difficult moments, with the blocking of flight blockades and containment measures that are spreading worldwide, transport companies are encountering certain difficulties. A return to normal is not expected before 2021, or even 2022. For road transport, the confinement and closure of factories and shops have led to the stopping of most trucks and even to partial unemployment for their employees. Aside from food transportation, most companies have reported a drop in activity since containment, according to the National Road Transport Federation. For maritime transport, most countries in the world note that the activity of the main ports is generally normal. Except that incoming vessels must be identified according to their origin. The disruptions in maritime travel due to the health crisis have serious consequences for world trade. And that is measured by hundreds of thousands of containers. For air transport, it is considered among the first victims of Covid-19. It is noted that it suffers from the precautionary measures applied and the drop in demand. Since the beginning of April, most airlines around the world have been almost stopped. Air transport had not experienced such a slowdown for a long time. And in this situation, airlines around the world have turned to their governments. Several governments have announced strong measures, such as deferring the payment of taxes and fees for a specified period. Or grant direct aid to pay wages and pensions.

Tourism too has had its share of the poisoned cake: canceled trips, reservations, events and concerts, closed travel agencies and a lot of other damages. Asian tourism was naturally the first to be impacted and experienced huge losses in bookings since the virus first spread in China, particularly in Whuhan, an economic drama for these countries, since they live a lot from tourism, European countries have also been affected by this epidemic and therefore have also experienced a fall in the tourism sector, particularly in France, Italy and Spain which have become countries deserted by tourists. A concern which has also been pierced in Arabic countries who directly stopped the flights and closed the borders in order to avoid any sign of vulnerability and limit the intensive spread of the virus, and it is not just about travel but also the most important events, professionals meetings, public forums, etc. This stopped certain companies, or even prohibited them from performing their normal activities which brought down the economy of the countries.

Revenues from global tourism due to the Coronavirus have dropped to at least $ 22 billion and this is only the optimistic scenario because if the epidemic continues to spread for a long time it will cause a loss of up to 73 billion dollars and a drop in revenues for airlines of $ 30 billion. With all the efforts made by the governments of each country and the permanent presence of a sector which does not belong to the economy but makes enormous sacrifices to save humanity, which is the most important thing currently in all these difficult conditions that the world endures. When will the world see the light of day? When will the world economy once again blow out its candles not for birthday but for peace, cheerfulness and liveliness?

Maritime transport is an essential element of globalization through which more than 80% of the flow of raw materials and goods are transported; maritime transport is also used for the purpose of the pandemic, but also for the purpose of the economy; decided by most countries.

At the start of March, 50% оf ship departures were canceled in Chinese ports. The rate of replenishment of these which appeared varied from 10 to 30%, causing the break in supply chains in many companies. The drastic reductions in air transport and containment measures have had a significant impact on fuel supplies. Oil prices have collapsed under the double effect of falling demand and disagreements in producing countries to limit production. As a result, a large number of petroleum plants are stopped and are being stored for overabundant oil production.

The measures taken in certain countries oblige them to meet a quarantine of 14 days before being allowed to dock when other ports were simply closed. The crews were also surveyed, placing people in very difficult situations. As for passenger transportation, it has been virtually stopped in many places.

This drop in activity results in a cessation of ship orders by ship-owners аnd a reduction in activity in shipyards. Very popular at the start of the year, Chinese and South Korean strong sites are starting to receive new orders for bulk carriers and LNG carriers.

After a slowdown of six weeks, export activity is back to normal with a rebound in volumes and a likely catch-up to replenish stocks.

If you ask any manager what mission is most important to them, they will often say “motivate employees”. The question is : What exactly motivates employees? And how can motivation impact employees’ performances.

Here are immediate actionable tips to increase employee motivation in the workplace; first of all, don’t let employees become bored; you must create a social climate for employees through group work, which confirms the theory of Elton Mayo on (social man), Man is there for not only an economic being but also has motivations related to the interest of the job. Let them pick a project or give them the opportunity to propose a new project to you. Chances are they’ll pick something they’re interested in, something innovative, impressive and useful to the company and something you may not have even thought about yourself.

Also, you can value individual contributions; their individual efforts and contribution play an important part of the company’s overall goals and direction. Employees will take pride and be engaged in their work if they are aware of how their efforts create an impact the organization; regardless of how big or small their contributions are. Managers do not have to reward their employees with gifts every single time they did a good job at a task. At times, a simple “Thank You” or “Great job” will suffice.  These meaningful words acknowledge effort, build loyalty and encourage people to work even harder.

Without forgetting the right environment to work in; when it comes to managing your employees, one of the most important things you can do for them is to provide the right work environment. A workspace should empower employees to do their best work. But it’s not just about physical comfort. “It’s also about designing work to suit workers’ cognitive and psychological characteristics, adjustable standing desks and well-positioned computer screens can not only alleviate pain but can also affect employees’ emotional well-being and promote focus. Remember, employees can’t do their best work in an office they find disruptive. Consider creating a comfortable, productive space that encompasses everything from ergonomic furniture to temperature-regulated interiors. Prioritize onboarding and training is realizing that a sink-or-swim mentality doesn’t work when the aim is to cultivate high-performing teams and a positive work environment.

And of course, take care of physical health: every employee cares about being productive, being in good physical and moral health will allow them to be more beneficial and eventually have a less stressful day. Initially, the concept should be easy to use, create an online based-programs that are accessible for smartphones which offer employees track fitness, help them with their diet by making a schedule and count calories programs. And also suggest other activities and exercises which are relatively simple which all workers or most of them feel comfortable doing, and adapt these exercises to their evolution overtime to manage their health. In addition, organizations are progressively bringing wellbeing professionals on-site for their workers to get to. It can include wellness coaches, nutritionists, physical specialists, coaches, therapist and more.

Finally, the company can provide some entertainment methods: Finding fun ways to motivate employees empowers a positive work environment. It shows that it’s not all about work; a little loosening of professionalism can go a long way toward encouraging your workers. The organization can also offer something outside the work to make sure the workers can get along even outside the work environment by organizing sports, team work or a dinner in a specific restaurant according to the culture of each, so they can exchange their cultures.

It goes with no doubt in the business world today that employee motivation is a key factor in improving your bottom line. Many studies have suggested that a decrease in employee motivation had a significant impact on the bottom line of the company’s studies (70% percent of American employees lack engagement and motivation, which costs a yearly 450 to 550 billion dollars in lost productivity-Gallup study on “State of the American Workplace”). This would lead many of us to ask how you improve your overall employee motivation. Job performance can just like work motivation be divided in task and contextual performance. The performance can simply be measured over time. After a specific period they can see if the performance of an employee is increased or decreased. There are variables that influence the job performance. The most important variables are joy, interests, money and power. All of these variables have a positive influence on the job performance.

In short, one can say that motivation has a positive effect on the job performance of employees within an organization. Both intrinsic as extrinsic motivation have a positive influence on the job performance. Managers can use this information within an organization to motivate their employees which will increase their performance.
